Sport Court Rules

COURT HOURS: Courts are open from 8:00 AM until dusk.

PICKLEBALL COURT RULES:

  • Courts are to be used for PICKLEBALL PLAY ONLY | All other sports and activities (including bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, scooters, etc.) other than pickleball are prohibited.
  • Courts are for open recreational play only and may not be reserved for private or commercial use, or for organized group activities, including games, practices, leagues, tournaments, and training sessions.  Ohio Township reserves the right to schedule official events, leagues, tournaments, and programs.
  • Private or personal instruction or lessons are not permitted.  Those found conducting and participating in such activities will be asked to leave immediately and will be prohibited from using the facility in the future.
  • Training equipment including portable nets, cones, ball machines, ball hoppers, etc. are prohibited.
  • Play at your own risk.
  • Park rules and regulations must be adhered to at all times.
  • Courts are closed when wet.
  • Proper attire, including clothing and athletic sneakers, is required at all times.
  • No food, alcohol, or drinks other than water allowed on courts.
  • No profanity, abusive behavior, or language allowed.
  • Children accompanying players must be properly supervised at all times.

Pickleball Playing Rules:

Courts are available on a first-come, first-served basis for both singles and doubles play, unless otherwise designated for an Ohio Township Parks and Recreation event, program, or activity.

During peak time when courts are at capacity and players are waiting to play:

  • Court time will be shared equally.
  • Waiting players will place their paddle in the designated rack by the gate (left-to-right).
  • Court time is limited to standard game scoring format, first to 11 points, winning team must win by 2 points.
  • After the game concludes, exit court immediately and return to waiting area outside the courts.
  • To play again - place your paddle in first available opening in the paddle rack, at the end of the line.
  • Double stacking of paddles (playing a game while having a second paddle waiting) is not allowed.
  • If there are 4 paddles in next-up spot: All players leave court to those waiting.
  • If there are 2 paddles in the next-up spot: the winning team may stay on, or the waiting players may choose to play singles.
  • An individual may not hold a court when other players are waiting.
  • Limit warmup time to no more than 5 minutes.
  • USA Pickleball Association (USAPA) rules to govern play.
  • Practice good sportsmanship and proper court etiquette.

  • Courts are to be used for TENNIS PLAY ONLY | All other sports and activities (including bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, scooters, etc.) other than tennis are prohibited.
  • Courts are for open recreational play only and may not be reserved for private or commercial use, or for organized group activities, including games, practices, leagues, tournaments, and training sessions.  Ohio Township reserves the right to schedule official events, leagues, tournaments, and programs.
  • Private or personal instruction or lessons are not permitted.  Those found conducting and participating in such activities will be asked to leave immediately and will be prohibited from using the facility in the future.

  • Court time must be shared equally among all players.
  • Players must yield the court after one set or 30 minutes of play, whichever comes first.
  • At the end of your set or time limit, please exit the court promptly and return to the designated waiting area.
  • Individuals may not hold or save the court while others are waiting to play.
  • Warm-up time is limited to a maximum of 5 minutes.
  • All players are expected to practice good sportsmanship and observe proper court etiquette.

  • Courts are to be used for BASKETBALL PLAY ONLY | All other sports and activities (including bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, scooters, etc.) other than basketball are prohibited.
  • Courts are for open recreational play only and may not be reserved for private or commercial use, or for organized group activities, including games, practices, leagues, tournaments, and training sessions.  Ohio Township reserves the right to schedule official events, leagues, tournaments, and programs.
  • Private or personal instruction or lessons are not permitted.  Those found conducting and participating in such activities will be asked to leave immediately and will be prohibited from using the facility in the future.

Basketball Playing Rules:

Court is available on a first-come, first-served basis, unless otherwise designated for an Ohio Township Parks and Recreation event, program, or activity.

During peak hours, when a full-court game is in progress and players are waiting to play:

  • All players are expected to show good sportsmanship and follow proper court etiquette.
  • Winning players or teams may not remain on the court for more than 30 minutes if others are waiting. However, if all present players agree, the winning team may continue to play beyond the time limit.
  • Court time must be shared equally among all players.
  • Maximum game time is 30 minutes or first to 11 points (win by 2)—whichever comes first.
  • If no one is waiting, players may continue using the court until others arrive.
  • At the end of the game or time limit, players must exit the court immediately and return to the designated waiting area.
  • Court may not be held or reserved by individuals while others are waiting to play.
