Building, Permitting, and Code Enforcement

BUILDING PERMITS

WHEN IS A BUILDING PERMIT REQUIRED? A Building Permit is required for residential and commercial construction including, but not limited to, the following projects:

  • NEW AND EXISTING CONSTRUCTION: Dwellings, Additions, Structural Alterations (i.e. removing load-bearing walls), Solar Panels, Demolition, Signs, Commercial Renovations, New Commercial Buildings

  •  DECK, PORCH, AND/OR ATTACHED ROOF

SUBMITTAL INSTRUCTIONS: Submit all applicable items listed on the first page of the Application Package to the Ohio Township municipal building. Review time typically takes 10-15 business days.
 

ZONING PERMITS

WHEN IS A ZONING PERMIT REQUIRED? A Zoning Permit is required for any detached structure under 1,000 square feet (OR any structure not regulated by a building permit). This includes, but is not limited to: 

  • Sheds
  • Detached garages
  • Carports

SUBMITTAL INSTRUCTIONS: Submit the following to the Ohio Township municipal building for review: (1) Zoning Permit Application, (2) permit fee, and (3) a property survey showing the location of the proposed structure. Review time typically takes 1-5 business days.
