About the Park

OHIO TOWNSHIP COMMUNITY PARK
325 Nicholson Road, Sewickley, PA  15143

The Ohio Township Community Park is eighty-acres of picturesque flat land and rolling hills located off of Nicholson Road. It is home to some truly spectacular sights! For sunset seekers, the upper field is the perfect spot to watch the sun dip behind the trees. The panoramic view of the park, coupled with the stunning view of the sunset, is a must see.

The focal point of the park is the two-story Nature Center. Presently, both floors are used for recreation classes and serve as one of the voting venues for the Township. Other facilities include a large hexagonal open air pavilion and a smaller picnic shelter, both of which are furnished with picnic tables. The Nature Center and Outdoor Pavilion are available to rent throughout the year. To compliment the buildings in the park, there is a large playing field designed for multiple simultaneous games, a children’s playgrounds with separate age-specific equipment, horseshoe pits, an accessible paved nature trail, new restroom facilities, and natural amphitheater behind the Nature Center. The park trail system map can be found at the top of this page, or at the park’s bulletin board.  The fields are used by the Avonworth Soccer Association for practices, games, and tournaments.

The park is open to the public from dawn till dusk. The Nature Center and Pavilion are available for rent. Details can be obtained from the municipal office by calling (412) 364-6321.
 
PETS ARE NOT PERMITTED IN ANY PARK AREA.
 
A PERMIT IS REQUIRED FOR THE USE OF ANY PARK SPACE BY 10 OR MORE PERSONS.  CONTACT THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT TO OBTAIN A PERMIT.

Other Local Parks:
Avonworth Community Park, formerly known as Camp Horne, is a 119 acre park that was purchased by the Avonworth Municipal Authority in 1968 for $150,000. It was leased for use as a public park to the Boroughs of Ben Avon, Ben Avon Heights, Emsworth, Kilbuck and Ohio Townships.
The park consists of the community pool, ball fields, basketball courts, picnic groves, the "Kids Kingdom" playground, the Mayernik Center, Miller Hall, the Cabin, and the Pavilion.

The Ohio Township Ballfield is five acres of land that sits along Nicholson Road, just up the street from the Ohio Township Community Park.  The land was purchased in 1967 for $3,000.  The field is used by the Avonworth Girls Athletic Association for practices, games, and tournaments.
