The following is a factual and demographic overview of the township. Statistics are from the 2020 U.S. Census unless otherwise stated.
Government Type
Ohio Township is a Township of the Second Class. There are only two classes of townships in Pennsylvania. According to Pennsylvania Law, a Township of the Second Class has a population density of fewer than 300 persons per square mile. As such, Ohio Township elects a board of three (3) Supervisors, a property tax collector, and a constable, each for a term of six (6) years, with exception of the tax collector, whose term of office is four (4) years. The day to day business of the township is managed by a Township Manager serving at will and is supported by an administrative staff. In addition to the Administration Office, the Police Department, Road Department, and Recreation Department are also under the direct administration of the Board of Supervisors.
Budget
The township operates on an annual basis January through December. The following year's budget is approved by December 31st. of the current year. Click here for a copy of the 2024 township budget.
Voting
Ohio Township is divided into 3 voting districts, District 1, District 2, and District 3. Your assigned district is indicated on your Voters Registration Card. The Ohio Township Nature Center serves as the polling place for Districts 1 and 2. The address is 325 Nicholson Road, Sewickley, PA 15143. District 3 votes at Christ Church at Grove Farm, 249 Duff Road, Sewickley, PA 15143.
