Project Lifesaver
The Ohio Township Police Department is a participating agency in Project Lifesaver. Within Allegheny County, Project Lifesaver is a search and rescue program overseen by The Allegheny County District Attorney's Office. This is a program designed for “at risk” individuals who are prone to the life threatening behavior of wandering. The primary mission of Project Lifesaver is to provide timely response to save lives and reduce potential injury for adults and children with the propensity to wander due to a cognitive condition, such as intellectual disabilitites or dementia.
If you have a loved one with a reduced cognitive fucntion and a history of wandering away, you may be eligible for this program at no cost. Below is a link to Project Lifesaver's website. This program is available to residents of Allegheny County, not just Ohio Township. Questions and applications should be directed to the district attorney's office.
